When all the competitors like Google and Samsung are a bit ahead of the AI race, Apple- the technology giant is now in constant dialogue with OpenAI and Google to use their AI models to power AI features in iPhone and other Apple devices.
Talks With OpenAI & Google
Reports show that talks with the openAI to use chatGPT’s GPT model on Apple devices is not closed yet. Apple wants to join the AI race with the integration of AI models starting with the update of the upcoming ios 18. Since the deal is not finalized and how the model will be implemented in iPhone is not clear, we could expect another potential party ie. Google is still on the Apple’s list.
In March, Apple had a discussion with Google to use Google’s newly built Gemini model as a text and image generative model to power iPhones. Since no concrete agreement is seen with OpenAI, the possibility of the Google Gemini to be seen in iOS 18 is still on.
ios 18 and AI
Apple is expected to release iOS 18 with its AI features in WWDC on June 10. Also, recent rumors that Apple will release its revamped Siri with new AI features in WWDC. Since deals with Google and OpenAI are yet to be made, these models are less likely to be integrated this soon. There is more possibility of Siri with more AI capability to be released in WWDC next month.
